Wgos' death
Well, as some of you know, Wgos, my shaman has had to be re-named because of Blizzard.

I recieved an e-mail letter form them saying:

Gretings,

Thank you for taking the time to contact us regarding the World of Warcraft account you are using. We understand your point of view in this matter, yet the character name "Wgos" is not appropriate for World of Warcraft as it falls into the Inappropriate category of the World of Warcraft Naming Policy (http://www.blizzard.com/support/wowgm/?id=agm01722p). This category includes both clear and masked names which are mildly inappropriate references to human anatomy or bodily functions. In playing this game, you will encounter thousands of other players who share different experiences and come from vastly different backgrounds. While a certain name may be appropriate to you, please consider the fact that that same name may have a completely different effect on someone else. The bottom line is that we want World of Warcraft to be a fun and safe environment. Therefore, we regret to inform you that we are unable to reverse the account action previously issued.

Any disputes or questions concerning this account action can only be addressed by Account Administration. To learn more about how Account Administration is able to assist you, please visit us at http://www.blizzard.com/support/wowaa/.

this is the letter I sent them contesting it:

Recently when I attempted to log into my character Wgos (pronounced W u g o s), it said that I had to rename my character because it violated naming rules. I personally do not see how it has, and I try to keep all of my character names appropriate. Wgos is part of a joke from me and my friends when a friend was trying to ask "who's your daddy" and instead typed "wgos your daddy". I happily named a character Wgos and said that I was his daddy. It was a fun story that we've had since burning crusade came out, and my friend has stopped playing. I re-named that character Osirion, but I would much rather keep Wgos. I enjoy the name because of it's originality and history.

If I can have this name back for this character, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

10 days later, my reply was:

Of course, This is not an answer as to WHY I can't have my name back, and was the same thing I got earlier, so I wrote them again:

My friend reported the whole guild for naming violations - of which there were
several, but my character did not violate any rules, and when I asked you to fix
it, I got the same message from the automatic information about naming rules.
You still have not told me HOW "Wgos" violates any nameing rules! Is there an
actual person at the other end of this e-mail? My name does not have any
reference to a body part or function, is not a bad word, not obscene or vulgar,
has nothing to do with sex or ethnicity at all. It does not advirtise anything,
nor does it have anything to do with any ingame names or IRL people. How come
you are picking on a regular name that I came up with that doesn't violate any
rules, when there are hundreds of names that violate the "Consist of multiple
(generally more than 2) words strung together to create partial or complete
sentences" rule? And instead of someone telling me WHY or HOW it has violated
any rules, I got the generic copy and past answer saying that is was found
inappropriate. HOW is Wgos inappropriate? If there is an actual reason that I
didn't know of - like it being a cuss word in Swahili, then fine, but not
getting any answer just indicates that it was a mistake, and instead of fixing
it, you just want to continue telling me it's inappropriate.

their reply I recieved today:

Greetings Dominic,

Thank you for taking the time to contact us regarding the World of Warcraft
account you are using.  We understand your point of view in this matter, yet the
character name "Wgos" is not appropriate for World of Warcraft as it falls into
the Pure Gibberish category of the World of Warcraft Naming Policy.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank you for your
time and understanding in this matter.

I think I'm going to put the name Wgos in every forum I can find - and then tell them to search it on the internet - please help me on this everyone!!!  random forums - all over, just mention things like "that is exactly what my frieng Wgos did" and "If Wgos was there, then that wouldn't have happened" Help me make it a viable name. Make Characters named Wgos on the other servers, come up with meanings for it in other languages. don't let Blizzard crush creativity in legitimate naming!!!

Guild Bank
Hello everyone :)

Just a note about the guild bank - yes, we have a guild bank. It's a way of sharing and donating for guild members. Echelonbank recieves items that you do not need, but may be of value to someone else. If there is something that you have tried auctioning and it doesn't sell, instead of vendoring it, think about donating it to the bank, just mail it to Echelonbank. Echelonbank will occasionally sell off some of the items it has in it's inventory that the members do not seem to need. The money earned via sales will be used to help out our poor brethren. If you need an item, talk to Osira and he can check the bank for something.

One good use of the bank is sending cloth and ore and other tradegoods that do not level you, but can be used to level other's professions.

#1.2 Any one under the age of 18 may still apply to the guild but their membership will be a trail membership untill they turn 18 or until it becomes apparent they are able to conduct themselves in a manner befitting a member of Echelon.

#1.3 Any guild member who's age does not meet the requirement will be grandfathered in providing that they are in good standing at the time of the new rule going into effect (4-25-07). Any member not in good standing but who was in at the time fo the rule going into effect will be put under review.

#2.  Character Names must be fitting for the guild.

#2.1 Names with ASCII lettering such as ƒöïÆ ect. will be tolerated with in reason. One such letter will be allowed, two or more will result in your guild removal as well as being reported to the GM's for a TOS violation.

#2.2 Names containing sexualy suggestive content, vulgarity, or other rude or innapropriet concent will result in immediete guild removal and being reported to the GM's. for example

#2.3 Gibberish names or names with out vowels will not be allowed. Exceptions are to be made for names representative of other cultures.

#3.1  Cure words are to be kept pg-13. The occassional shit or damn will be tolerated with in limits.

#3.2 Graphic sexual comments will not be allowed in guild chat. We don't want to know about yoru week end if it involved a tub of vasalene and a hammer.

#3.3 Racism or Slurs will NOT be tolerated. There is a ZERO TOLERANCE policy in effect. This included defacing others religions or faiths.

#4. any public channel such as trade, lfg, general chat, world defense, ect is to be treated the same as guild chat. Any thign reported to us from Say will also be disciplined. Keep it to your self.

#5. Whispers and tells and party chat are yoru own buisness. conduct yourselves however you wish when with friends but be polite when grouping with non guildies.

#6. Ninjaing will nto be tolerated. I will punch any ninjas in the face. Even if you ninja someone not in guild, it's not cool and it gives the guild a bad name.

#7. Griefing, harrassing, or interfearing with another players enjoyment of the game is forbidden. PVP is one thing, if they flag themselves and you can kill them feel free. Camping the graveyard or their body or trying to interfear with crafting or fishing by spamming /duel or other methods will not be tolerated.

#7.1  Camping and such in a battleground is fine. The non harrassment policy refers to world PVP.

#8.  Generosity to guild members is encouraged but not required.

#8.1 It is expected that guild members will not charge more than the cost of materials for crafting.
#8.1.1 cooldown times for crafted items are not considered a material. However a non guildy "paying" customer does take precidence over a "freebie" guildy customer. We don't expect you to loose money to help out other guildies.

#9. mains come Before alts on rolls in dungeon runs.

#10. roll need only if the character you're playing can use the item.

more will be posted as they're suggested and thoughtof.
